This 30 acre historic site 6 miles west of Nashville, has a picturesque mansion at its centerpiece. Known as the Belle Meade mansion, it was built in 1853 as a Greek revival house. It was the home to five generations of the Harding-Jackson family. At one point, the farm encompassed 5,400 acres and was one of the largest private estates in Nashville. It was most famous for breeding and training championship racehorses. Horse connoisseurs, would recognize the names Funny Cide, Barbaro, and Secretariat, whose bloodlines trace back to the breeding stock at Belle Meade. This is a grand place to take the whole family.
